Female visitor shot dead outside Lapu-Lapu City Jail
A 44-year-old female visitor of the Lapu-Lapu City Jail was shot dead on Friday by motorcycle-riding assailants outside the prison facility in Sitio Soong, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Lowella Dellera of Lapu-Lapu City died after she was shot in the head by one of two men on a motorcycle who followed her as she left the jail at past 3 p.m., said Chief Insp. Wayne Magbanua, Mactan Police Station chief, during a phone interview.
Magbanua said that the assailants sped off on their motorcycle after shooting Dellera.
The victim was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital, but doctors there declared her dead on arrival.
SPO1 Luisito Ernie of the Homicide Section of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office said they recovered from the crime scene two spent shells and a slug believed to be that of .45 caliber pistol.
Police were still investigating the killing.
