YawYan ArDigma Cebu, Southside Fitness Center forge partnership to teach more Cebuanos in MMA
THE YawYan ArDigma Cebu will open a new branch in April in partnership with the Southside Fitness Center at the E-Zone Paseo along F. Cabahug St. in barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City to cater kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) enthusiasts in the north side of Cebu.
YawYan ArDigma Cebu chief master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga Jr. and Cebuano MMA patron and promoter Renault Lao officially forged a partnership to open up YawYan ArDigma’s second branch here.
The facility will be located at the second level of the Southside Fitness Center which primarily offers CrossFit classes.
Its main branch is located on the fourth level of the Coast Pacific Building on Sanciangko St., downtown Cebu City.
Caniga Jr. and Lao officially unveiled last Monday night the MMA and kickboxing facility that can accommodate around 30 students and is offering morning, afternoon and evening training sessions that will be handled by former YawYan ArDigma fighter Roel “Akiyama” Rosauro.
“This is very timely because we are set to start our summer class so we will simultaneously open this gym on April 2 which is the start of our summer class that will offer all of the YawYan ArDigma techniques and style,” said Caniga Jr.
According to Lao, the facility was formerly the headquarters of the disbanded Deftac Cebu.
“I decided to partner with Master Ekin (Caniga Jr.) since the facility has not been used enough after it was opened in 2015. I am very excited to partner with Master Ekin who is no less than the man who introduced MMA in Cebu and helped in promoting MMA before,” said Lao in a presser last Monday.
They are targeting Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) employees as well as students and foreigners who live near the area. They are planning to widen the facility to cater to more students in the future.
