Bantayan, Alcoy win opening games in Governor’s Cup basketball
The teams of Bantayan and Alcoy chalked up victories in the opening day of the Governor’s Cup Basketball Inter-City/ Municipality Tournament Sunday afternoon at the Cebu Coliseum.
Bantayan routed the Santa Fe Seafarers, 83-58, in the first official game of the tournament for cagers 21 years and below while Alcoy trounced Boljoon, 68-61, in the second game.
In an exhibition game after the opening ceremonies, the Mayors won against Board of Directors, 61-56.
Another highlight of the opening was the search for Miss Gov’s Cup 2018.
Winning the north crown was Lorraine Hann of Consolacion while Talisay City’s Nikki de Mouran won the south title.
Minor awards also went to the towns of Tudela (Early Bird) and Boljoon (Best in Uniform).
The opening ceremonies and the three games were broadcast live via Cebu Sports Live at Cebu Daily News’ Facebook page.
