MCWD: “Save water as supply drops”

The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) encourages the public to save water as the supply of two dams continue to deplete.

From an average of 6,000 cubic meters during the third week of April, Buhisan Dam’s daily production has dropped to 3,000 cubic meters on the first week of May.

Jaclupan Dam’s average daily water supply also dropped from 33,000 cubic meters to 28,0000 for the same period of time.

Charmaine Kara, MCWD information Officer, said that the public needs to conserve more water to ensure that there will be enough supply.

“Our responsibility as a water district is to make sure that the water resource is distributed evenly,” said Kara.

With the current water supply situation in two dams, the affected areas include portions of Talisay City and Barangays Tisa, Labangon, Guadalupe, Calamba, Cogon-Ramos, Lorega, Carreta, Kalunasan and Capitol Site in Cebu City.
