What matters most to Magpale

Editor-In-Chief, Cebu Daily News
Cebu City

Dear Ms. Benedicto:

I WRITE to express my appreciation and gratitude for the editorial in your paper’s opinion section which was published yesterday entitled: “Grace of retirement, palabra de honor.”

Such words of kindness and praise really evoked in me a deep sense of pride and confidence that you have considered my irrevocable decision to quit government
service as an elected official a model for politicians in contemporary Philippine politics.

Since I entered politics in the 70’s at a relatively young age, it has always been my personal vow to uphold the principles and values that make up a person of honor and dignity.

To me, there is no separate anddistinct  set of values that any person should embrace, whether he/she may be a private citizen or a public servant.

What matters most is the ability to hold on firmly to what is decent, good, and right.

Again, my appreciation and gratitude for the compliment.

Very truly yours,

AGNES A. MAGPALE
Vice Governor
