Davide considers Durano-Meca as runningmate; Diamante to run as congressman

By: Rosalie Abatayo July 03,2018 - 03:37 PM

Among the names floated as his possible runningmate in the 2019 midterm elections, Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III considers Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) chief Ivy Durano-Meca.

Davide, in an interview with the media, said that Durano-Meca’s background and experience in public service makes her a viable candidate.

Prior to her appointment as CPADAO chief, Durano-Meca served as the chapter president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu Province and ex-officio member of the Cebu Provincial Board.

The other name which has surfaced as Davide’s possible runingmate is Tuburan Vice Mayor Democrito Diamante. The incumbent governor said he would want Diamante to run for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Diamante announced today his plan to run as Third District Representative of Cebu. The town mayor told reporters that he still wants to focus in Tuburan and Cebu’s third district to make sure that his pending projects will push through.

Despite being in separate parties, Davide said he would personally support Diamante’s congressional bid.

Davide, however, will wait for the recommendations of Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale as to his runningmate.

Magpale earlier maintained that she has no plans to vie for any elective position in next year’s polls. (Rosalie)
