Jica Master Plan on Metro Cebu’s Transport System endorses Five projects to mitigate traffic

Aside from the fourth Mactan-Cebu Bridge, four other projects are proposed to mitigate traffic congestion of Metro Cebu.

The projects in the pipeline include a circumferential road, urban mass rapid transit (UMRT) for the coastal and central roads within the metropolis and the installation of an Area Traffic Control (ATC) System in Metro Cebu, said Engr. Lynn Madrona who sits as Vice Chair for the Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCCDB) Subcommittee on Transport and Traffic Management.

The Metro Cebu Circumferential Road or Metro Cebu Ring Road is a 21-kilometer Highway with a 2-kilometer tunnel section that is expected to improve traffic in the Cities of Talisay, Cebu and Mandaue.

The circumferential road is estimated to cost P40.2 billion.

A feasibility study has already been conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and was submitted to the National Economic Development Authority.
