Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) chief has requested the local government of Badian to screen their local guides following the arrest of two canyoneering guides in a buy-bust operation last July 6.
PTO Head Joselito “Boboi” Costas said that they should not only consider willingness to learn to guide guests but also having moral values as part of the qualification.
“They should screen their guides not only their readiness to learn but also in terms of moral values,” Costas told reporters on Monday.
He added that it is also important for local guides to be conscious of their health and safety they can ensure to their guests.
Nonetheless, he said local guides are vital in tourist destinations, such as the canyoneering activities in Badian.
