Repatriated female OFWs to get livelihood aid from Dole-7

THE Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (Dole-7) is giving out livelihood assistance packages to 50 undocumented female Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who were recently repatriated.

The aid worth P10,000 will include a rice retailing package and technical assistance from the government’s labor agency.

Dole-7 Director Alvin Villamor said that the beneficiaries, who are also residents of different barangays in Cebu province, were victims of hostilities in the Middle East where they used to work.

A Dole-7 statement said that the beneficiaries will be made to undergo livelihood skills training on rice and corn trading, financial literacy and business management on July 28.

The livelihood grant is part of the agency’s “Balik Pinay! Balik Hanapbuhay! Program” and spearheaded by its Central Visayas office of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO-7).

Dexter Paro, NRCO-7 regional coordinator, said that their office has allocated P500,000 to cover the rice retailing packages that they will soon be giving out to their OFWs beneficiaries.

Each rice retailing package would include two sacks of rice, two sacks of corn, one weighing scale, a scoop and sando bags.

Paro said the program would enable the repatriated OFWs to engage in business and have an alternative income while they remain in the country.
