3rd Sacred Heart School (SHS)-Ateneo de Cebu kicks off today
TWELVE teams of the boys 14 will be vying for the title of the 3rd Sacred Heart School (SHS)-Ateneo de Cebu Invitational 11-a-side Football Championships which starts today at the Ateneo campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Of the 12 teams, four are from out-of-town. Therse are Sagay FC of Sagay City, Rosevale FC of Cagayan de Oro, and Gaher FC and Matrix UTD of Bohol.
The teams are divided into four groups—A, B, C and D.
Joining Sagay FC in Group A are the Sisters of Mary School-Boystown and the University of San Carlos Basic Education.
Group B will have Gaher FC, Ateneo and Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Magone.
Rosevale FC, Giuseppe FC and Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy comprise Group C while Group D will have Matrix UTD, DBTC Savio and DB Boys Home.
Each group will play a single round robin in the eliminations which will be held today with the top 2 advancing to the quarterfinals.
The winners will go on to form the semifinals cast. The knockout stage will be held tomorrow.
Semis winners will contest the title while the losing teams will battle for third place.
A specially designed trophy courtesy of Ronea Bagabuyo of Dapitan will be given to the champion.
