Minimally invasive surgical procedures can now be performed at the Carcar Provincial Hospital with the recent acquisition of a P14.8 million laparoscopy tower and an arthroscope and endoscope machines from the Cebu Provincial government.
“Ang technology karon nag-move na away sa mga incisions nga dagko. Although, traditionally naa man gyuy surgical procedures nga kinahanglan gyud nga samaran but daghan na pud mga procedures karon nga pwede lili-on na lang (The current technology was moving away from the traditional open incision. Although there are cases that require surgical procedures, there are also procedures that can be done through the use of a machine without undergoing surgery,” said Dr. Rene Catan from the Provincial Health Office.
With the newly-acquired medical equipment, procedures like lapasroscopic surgeries, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and arthroscopy can now be made available to all the Cebuanos.
Laparoscopic surgical procedures entail less cuts and minimal incisions. Hence, patients experience less post-operative pain. Most importantly, patients recover faster.
“There’s less bleeding, less morbidity,” said Dr. Catan.
The Cebu Provincial government, through the Provincial Health Office, continuously provides the much needed technology to cater to the needs of patients in the province.
“Now that we have this capability, we can offer more services not even offered by other hospitals,” said Dr. Rene Catan.
Under the administration and six-key development agenda of Governor Hilario P. Davide III, healthcare is given utmost importance.
“We will also do the same for the other provincial hospitals. Ato lang gi-una ang Carcar kay mao may gihimong model nato for the other hospitals. Gani hapit na pud moabot ang atong CT scan.
Months ago, we inaugurated our first ever ICU and Danao will follow soon,” said Davide.
