GARMA

CEBU City Police Office chief Senior Supt. Royina Garma has ordered the removal of air-conditioning units from at least 22 patrol cars from the 11 precincts under her supervision.

In an interview, Garma said she received reports that a number of policemen are just sleeping inside patrol cars at night instead of patrolling the streets.

Worse, they slept with the airconditioning units turned on.

Supt. Artemio Ricabo, the Deputy City Director for Administration of the CCPO, told Cebu Daily News that the directive was issued after a concerned citizen reported on Garma’s “Itug-an Mo kay CD” Facebook page about a policeman sleeping inside a parked patrol car.

“Para naku gibuhat ni kay lain sab lantawon nga makit-an atong mga pulis nga nangatulog,” Ricabo said. (In my opinion, this was done to save the police from embarrassment because it’s not good if people see them just sleeping inside patrol cars.)

Ricabo added that Garma’s move is a big step towards saving cost for the maintenance of patrol cars.
