Students and their families plant 3.5K seedlings in Pinamungajan

More than 350 students and their families from the two public elementary schools in the hinterland barangays of Pinamungajan planted 3,500 seedlings during a community-based tree planting activity recently.

Barangay officials led by Duangan barangay captain Annette Navarro and teachers of Duangan Elementary School and Guimbawian Elementary School joined the students and their families in plant various species of trees that included Acacia, Acacia Auri, Caimito, Lanutan, Lomboy, Mahogany, Molave, Narra and Tagilomboy, according to

Mitzie Almira Carin, division manager of Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC), which organized the activity.

Over the past 10 years, SEDC, which supplies raw materials to Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc., has already planted more than 65,000 seedlings in its host barangays of Bugho, Cabatbatan and Magsico in San Fernando town, southern Cebu in partnership with Taiheiyo.
