The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles finally got one over the University of the Visayas (UV) as they bested the Baby Lancers, 78-67, to win the Passerelle Cebu title in the 33rd SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo on Saturday evening at the Cebu City Sports Institute.

UV has had Ateneo de Cebu’s number for a while now, winning titles in this competition as well as the Cesafi at the latter’s expense.

Payback finally came as the Magis Eagles made shots when it mattered most to book a seat to the Visayas Regional Finals, which will be held this November in Bacolod.

Jared Bahay was named Most Valuable Player after his spectacular 15-point performance that saw him make all but one of his seven attempts from the floor, including three three-pointers. Rey Fuentes was the other double-figure scorer for Ateneo de Cebu with 11 points.

Keane Yu, Jhoernel Tangkay, Joseph Dytian and Kurt Laput were all instrumental in helping Ateneo de Cebu get the win as they combined for 24 points.

The third period was where Ateneo de Cebu finally made their mark, with Bahay leading the way, connecting on three triples to help them erect a 62-50 lead heading to the final canto.

The lead ballooned to a high of 18, 75-57, after a basket by Nicolas Tuadles with 3:42 to go.

Christian Jay Alilin led UV with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.
