Yolanda batters northern Cebu, power cut off, trees and lines toppled
Roofs were torn off and parked vehicles and motorcycles were dragged several meters away as super typhoon “Yolanda” barreled its way through Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu.
Packing winds of 215 kph, Yolanda made its third landfall in Daanbantayan at 9:40 a.m. forcing residents to stay indoors. Some journalists stayed at the town hall near the coastline.
Glass windows were broken and trees were uprooted and fell on the highway, blocking traffic. A woman died in Mahawak, Kawit in Medellin town also north in Cebu when a coconut tree fell on her.

Neil Sanchez, Cebu PDRRMC executive director said they are reestablishing contacts in northern Cebu after it was cut off at the height of the typhoon onslaught. Help is on its way to distressed residents, he added.
In Metro Cebu, Visayas Electric Co (Veco) shut down its 69kV power line. They said it will be restored when it is already safe.
There were 15 flooded areas a portion of barangay Lahug in Cebu City. The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported there are 109,976 people who evacuated to 710 sites in the region.
There were also 1,161 search and rescue personnel deployed. In Balamban, southwest of Cebu, search and rescue is ongoing for the ship captain of Cebu Dreams tugboat who accidentally fell to the sea when he disembarked from the vessel in at Pier 3 of Tsuneishi Heavy Industries.
Toppled trees and billboards blocked streets in Talisay City. There are 500 residents in barangay Manipis in Talisay that took shelter in an abandoned culvert.
The Talisa City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council advised the residents to evacuate to the Talisay City Sports Complex.
As of today, there are more than 150 damaged houses in Talisay City Water in Mananga river overflowed causing the residents to leave their houses. Yolanda just left north of Cebu and is heading west of the Visayas.
