Groups to stage rally on fossil fuel use and mining expansion in Cebu

By: Marian Z. Codilla March 28,2014 - 04:38 PM

Over 100 youth and ecology advocates from 50 groups will stage a rally to denounce the continued use of fossil fuels and mining expansion in Cebu.

The rallyists who form part of the so-called Sulong Power Shift Pilipinas will picket the office of the Department of Energy and hold a candle light vigil at Fuente Osmena Circle tonight.

The rallyists are protesting the ongoing construction of the Aboitiz 300 megawatt coal plant and the oil drilling in Aloguinsan town. They are also seeking justice for the victims of supertyphoon Yolanda which they said was caused by climate change.
