The “secret” burial of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani pushed through last Friday in order to prevent it from being stopped by demonstrations and rallies.
There are those who are professing to forgive and forget, but I do understand the emotions of those who were victims of martial law abuses especially if one had lost a love one during the dictatorship.
It is not easy to just say forgive and forget. They want the Marcos family to be accountable for the abuses of the dictator but the family had refused to apologize for the wrongs committed by Marcos and recognize the reality of the abuses of the martial law era.
To those wishing to forgive and forget, they kept saying that Marcos is already dead and it is time to move on with our lives and let Marcos rest in peace.
They say that there are many more serious problems to focus our minds on than the Marcos burial but those opposed to the Marcos burial are unconvinced by this argument.
Our family, the Rama family, were victims of the martial law abuses as my uncle, the late Napoleon G. Rama, was imprisoned together with Ninoy Aquino, Pepe Diokno, Soc Rodrigo and Monching Mitra when martial law was declared.
Our family had long moved on but we opposed the burial of the late dictator at the Libingan ng mga Bayani because he was not a hero. He was a fake hero and he used his power to abuse many Filipinos during the martial law era.
I say that they may have been successful in burying the late dictator at the Libingan but history will judge the late dictator and I am happy that there are many who are young who railed against the burial.

I don’t know what good will come out of the killing of former Albuera mayor Ronald Espinosa inside the prison under dubious circumstances.
The police should be held accountable for what happened especially since the former mayor could be a good source of information about those involved in the illegal drugs trade in our country and the police officers and public officials who were on the take from the drug lords.
Espinosa’s killing is believed to be intentional in order to silence him from telling what he knows about the illegal drug trade.
Luckily his son, the no. 1 drug dealer in Eastern Visayas, was arrested in Abu Dhabi and is willing to tell what he knows about the illegal drugs trade and the officials receiving drug money.
I am hoping that what happened to his father won’t happen to him.
