Woman shot dead in Barangay Quiot

Cebu City, Philippines —  A woman was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman in Bayanihan Village in Barangay Quiot, Cebu City on Friday morning, March 22, 2019.

Police Officer 2 John Erick Samosa of the Punta Police Station, who is the investigator on the case, identified the victim as 32-year-old Janice Bayarcal, a resident of Barangay Quiot.

Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered six empty shells of .45 bullets from the crime scene. 

Based on the initial investigation of the police, the victim suffered gunshot wounds to her head and back. 

Police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.

Police are trying to get copies of closed circuit television (CCTV) footage in the area where the crime was committed to help them with their investigation. 

They are also checking on reports that Bayarcal was already imprisoned twice before. They have yet to find out, though, what she was arrested for. /bmjo
