Cebu City police nab 4 drug suspects, seize P410K shabu in separate drug busts
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police seized a total of P410,000 worth of suspected shabu and arrested four persons, including a 22-year-old woman, in separate drug busts in Cebu City today, March 22, 2019.
The drug enforcement unit of the Cebu City Police Office’s (CCPO) Precinct 11 in Barangay Mambaling and Precinct 5 in Barangay Ermita implemented the anti-drug operations at dawn today that resulted to the arrest of four suspected drug dealers.
Senior Inspector Frances Renz Talosig, chief of the Mambaling Police Precinct, identified one of the arrested suspects as Rubine “Benben” Silva, 40, a resident of Sitio Puntod Alaska, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
Silva was nabbed past 1 a.m. of March 22 in a buy bust operation in Puntod Alaska in possession of about P104,000 worth of suspected shabu, said Talosig.
A couple of hours later, a separate operation in Sitio Naba, also in Barangay Mambaling, led to the arrest of Billy Torres, 46, and Ryan Mijares, 20, both residents of the area. The two men were caught in possession of about P136,000 worth of suspected shabu.
According to Talosig, all three men were not in the police’s drug watchlist.
At past 2 p.m. today, it was the turn of the Ermita police led by Chief Inspector Randy Caballes to nab another suspected drug dealer, a female identified as Joyce Caballes, 22, and a resident of Barangay Basak San Nicolas, also in Cebu City.
Chief Inspector Caballes said he has no relations to the suspect with the same family name as his.
Caballes said Joyce was arrested after she sold 25 grams of shabu to a poseur buyer for P170,000.
According to Caballes, they learned of Joyce’s alleged drug operation from another drug pusher previously arrested by the Ermita police. Joyce is allegedly a common-law partner of a drug suspect now imprisoned at the Cebu City Jail./elb
