A gasoline station employee died while another got wounded by motorcycle riding assailants after they had a drinking session in a friend’s home in barangay Carreta, Cebu City early yesterday morning.

Police identified the victims as 45-year-old Glicerio ‘Jun’ Pase, a mechanic of JFR Petron and a native of Bato, Oslob town in Cebu who resided in barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City.

His companion identified as Gilbert Balanguige sustained gunshot wounds on his hips. Balanguige told police that he and Pase drank at the home of a certain Marlon in barangay Carreta after they received their salaries last Friday.

The drinking session ended at 3:30 am and Balanguige was about to board the motorcycle when he heard gunshots and saw Pace lying dead on the spot.

He was shot on his hips and saw his assailant aiming a gun at him. Balanguige pretended to be dead and heard another person telling the gunman, “Siguroha nga patay nab a gyud (Make sure they’re dead).”

The gunman then shot Pase in the head and also shot Balanguige’s right foot before he and his companion left. Minutes later Balanguige felt someone looting his pockets.

When the people left, he immediately stood up and rushed towards Gen. Maxilom Ave. and hailed a taxi for a ride to the nearest hospital. PO1 Michael Angelo Singson said Pase sustained gunshot wounds on his face and at the back of his head. Balanguige lost his cell phone and wallet.

Singson said the victims may have been suspected of being police assets because they wore black jackets. Balanguige also wore a ball cap with the word FBI printed on it.
