By: PR March 29,2019 - 11:54 AM

The Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska visits Dumaguete for the first time to bring the league’s youth basketball participation program to St. Louis School of Don Bosco on March 30-31, 2019.

The Visayas Regional Selection Camp will be the third Jr. NBA Philippines selection camp for 2019 open for boys and girls ages 10-14.

Jr. NBA coaches led by Rob Newson of the NBA and PBA Legend Jeffrey Cariaso will teach basketball fundamentals and impart the core S.T.A.R. values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude, and Respect to participants during the two-day event.

Set to tip off at 7 a.m. on March 30, 2019, Saturday, the camp will provide aspiring Jr. NBA All-Stars a series of skills stations that will test their dexterity in dribbling, passing, shooting, lay-ups and footwork.

Top performers on the first day will progress to Sunday and will be coached on advanced basketball concepts, take part in team exercises and scrimmages, and vie for slots to represent the Visayan region in the Jr. NBA Philippines National Training Camp in Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati on May 17-19, 2019.

Outstanding athletes selected in the Dumaguete Regional Selection Camp will be part of the top 40 boys and 40 girls from Regional Selection Camps in Lucena (March 9-10), Baguio (March 23-24), Butuan (April 13-14), Metro Manila (April 27-28), and the Alaska Power Camp.

Additionally, the 2019 batch of Jr. NBA Philippines All-Stars—as many as five boys and five girls—will participate in the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp, a week-long selection camp in June with top youth players from North Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific region.

In culmination, the top performing 10 boys and 10 girls in that camp will then represent Asia Pacific in the second Jr. NBA Global Championship held Aug. 6-11, 2019 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida.

The international event will feature talented youth from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, China, Mexico, Africa, India and the Asia-Pacific.
