CEBU CITY, Philippines–The Social Security System (SSS) opens 70 offices, including three in Cebu, to accept applications for the loan restructuring program (LRP).

The LRP with penalty condonation will waive penalties for members with past due short-term loans once they paid the loan and interest in full within the approved term.

These include calamity loan, salary loan, educational loan, study-now-pay-later loan and investment incentive loan, among others.

SSS officer-in-charge Aurora Ignacio explained that the management decided to open several other branches starting on March 30 to anticipate the influx of LRP applicants to beat the April 1 deadline.

“The SSS management has decided to open 70 branches on Saturday. March 30 to accept members wanting to avail of the program,” Ignacio said in a press statement.

Here in Cebu, the SSS offices in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu will open to process LRP applications.

In the Visayas, six other SSS offices in Tagbilaran, Dumaguete, Tacloban, Bacolod, Iloilo Central and Kalibo will also accommodate LRP applications.

The other branches and service offices, which will open Saturday, include 29 in National Capital Region, 15 in the rest of Luzon and 17 in Mindanao.

Ignacio noted that there are only a few days left for members with delinquent loans to settle their obligations without penalty.

“Our member-borrowers should take this opportunity to avoid inconvenience when they file for final benefits such as retirement and death benefits./dcb
