CPPO: SEMPO yields P1.9M worth of illegal drugs, 260 personalities, high-powered firearms

Cebu City, Philippines — An estimated P1.9 million worth of illegal drugs were seized during the two day province-wide Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations (SEMPO) conducted by Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) last March 28-30, 2019. 

In a press release, the CPPO said it also arrested 260 personalities and seized loose firearms in the operation.

The CPPO said it promised the people of the Province of Cebu that all criminals will be accounted and brought to justice.  

“You only have two choices, obey the law or be arrested,” Police Colonel Manuel Javier Abrugena said in the press release.

Eight persons were arrested through a service of search warrant against illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms and 106 persons arrested during a buy-bust operation.

Over six Most Wanted Persons and 76 other wanted persons were also arrested during the two-day operation. 

Moreover, 13  persons were arrested in the campaign against illegal fishing and 56 persons arrested for anti-illegal gambling operations. 

CPPO confiscated a total of 113 loose firearms through OPLAN Katok and search warrant. 

The operation was mandated by Police Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas, Regional Director of the Central Visayas Police Regional Office to intensify operation against illegal drugs, illegal gambling, violations of election ban and other forms of criminality. /bmjo
