Cebuana teen beauty queen Olive May Bihag to highlight education for street children

Cebu City, Philippines — Olive May Bihag has proven that she is beauty queen with a heart, especially for unprivileged children.

Bihag wants to highlight the importance of education for street children when she represents Central Visayas in the national stage. 

“I believe that I can help a lot of streetchildren (and help them) see the sunrise (hope) despite the storm (challenges),” she told Cebu Daily News Digital.

Bihag, 14, is one of the six young beauty queens from the Visayas who will vie for the Miss Teen Philippines 2019 crown on May 8, 2019 in Manila.

To implement her chosen advocacy, Bihag wants to organize a monthly donation to raise funds to finance their education.

The young beauty queen believes that the pageant is the perfect platform to start her advocacy. 

Bihag is a grade nine student in Academia del Christifidelis in the town of Liloan.

Before making it to Miss Teen Philippines 2019 finals, she was Best Muse 2018 in the town of Madridejos, northern Cebu, Miss Casuntingan 2018 first runner-up and Miss Macaba 2017.

For her, she deserves to be the next grand winner since at young age, she can share life lessons and implement lessons wholeheartedly. 

“Lessons like value education and life. Also, never fail to try again when you are down because there is so much moe in life. Learn, understand, and explore,” she said. /bmjo
