Four killed in Mandaue City shooting incidents involving ‘Kuratong Baleleng’ members
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Three separate shooting incidents in Mandaue City — both from police operations and perpetrated by unidentified assailants — the lives of four individuals, including alleged members of the Parojinog drug group and Ozamiz robbery group on Friday evening, April 5.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Bernouli Abalos, chief of the Mandaue City Police Office’s City Intelligence Branch (CIB – MCPO), confirmed this in a text message sent to Cebu Daily News Digital.
Abalos said two of the three shooting incidents happened when two teams of Mandaue’s CIB were serving search warrants addressed to Frederex Secretario, and Eduardo Omac Baliling for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Sitio Paradise, Barangay Looc, Mandaue City.
“The search warrant was issued by Judge Mercedita G. Dadole – Ygnacio who is the executive judge of the Mandaue City Regional Trial Court (RTC),” said Abalos.
He said both subjects of the search warrants were alleged members of the notorious Kuratong Baleleng group founded by the Parojinogs and based in Mindanao.
Based on police records, Baliling, together with another gang member identified as Henry Labajo, allegedly tried to shoot it out with police when Mandaue City’s CIB team were serving the search warrant against Baliling.
Both Baliling and Labajo were rushed to a nearby public hospital but physicians declared them as dead on arrival.
A .45 caliber pistol was recovered from each suspect.
Meanwhile, the other CIB team was serving a search warrant for Frederix Secretario within the same area.
Although the police were not able to locate Secretario, they arrested a certain Niel Pausanos Parojinog, and Elizalde Colanag for illegal possession of firearms.
Abalos said both Parijonog and Colanag were also alleged members of the Kuratong Baleleng group.
But the incident also claimed the life of another alleged gang member identified as Jessie Parojinog.
Police said Jessie attempted to help Niel and Colanag by firing at the law enforcers who shot back.
Jessie was also rushed to the hospital but he did not reach the hospital alive.
Hours later, however, another Parojinog was gunned down by still unidentified assailants in Sitio Pilit, Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City around 12 midnight on Saturday, April 6.
Police are now investigating whether the death of Danilo Parojinog, whose address was traced to Barangay Tingob, Mandaue City, is related to the recent shooting incidents, and whether or not he was also a member of Kuratong Baleleng./dbs
