CEBU CITY, Philippines — Bring only the essentials during your Holy Week travels.

Travelling light reduces the inconvenience that may result from having to endure long lines and longer stay at an overcrowded Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT), said Terminal Manager Jonathan Tumulak.

With the heightened terminal security that they will implement starting on Monday, carrying of large bags and packages are expected to cause inconvenience on travellers and delays in their terminal entry, he said.

Madugay tag samot if magdada silag mga groceries nga daghan nya magbitbit pa gyod og daghang bags (It will surely cause delays in travellers bring groceries and a lot of bags during their trip.) ,” said Tumulak.

Tumulak is expecting the bulk of the Holy Week travellers to crowd the CSBT terminal starting on Holy Wednesday, which is also the last working day for most of the government and private offices.

In order to avoid the travel rush, he is asking Cebuanos to plan their trips ahead.  He said that some passengers are also expected to get stranded on Holy Thursday when countryside trips are already scarce.

Today, the CSBT management added one more trip to Zamboang and Dumaguete City to address the high demand for travel in these areas.

“So far, manageable pa man atong mga passengers pero dili lang ta maghuwat nga modaghan. (So far, the number of passengers remain manageable but let us not wait for the influx of an even bigger crowd),” said Tumulak. /dcb
