CEBU CITY, Philippines — Heavy traffic are expected in Minglanilla town in southern Cebu this evening amid the activities in the town.

Jonathan Tumulak, Cebu Provincial government’s focal person on traffic management, said this after the roads along the N. Bacalso highway in Minglanilla town which were closed at 3:38 p.m. were opened at 5:20 p.m.

Tumulak said the roads were closed because of the Sugat-Kabanhawan Street Parade.

During that time the motorists were advised to take the inner roads in Barangay Tulay via Barangay Tungkop and Sangi-Calajoan road.

“So hinay lang ang dagan didto (diversion road), pero karon nga ato na gi open, ni balik na sa normal,” Jonathan Tumulak, Provincial Government’s focal person on traffic management, told CDN Digital.

(The traffic there at the diversion road was heavy but now that the N. Bacalso roads are opened the traffic has gone to normal.)

Tumulak said that it would be expected that heavy traffic would occur in the evening because of  the activities in the town and the volume of motorists heading back to the city from the south.

“As expected, mu traffic ni. Gawas sa mga kalihukan diri, expected pod mo hinay ang dagan tungod sa volume sa sakyanan,” Tumulak said.

(As expected, there would be traffic because aside from the activities in the town, it is also expected that the volume of vehicles passing through the town will increase.)

Tumulak was referring to the many commuters who would be expected to travel back to the city right after the holidays.

Meanwhile, the ritual showdown of the Sugat-Kabanhawan in Minglanilla town is ongoing at the Minglanilla Central School Oval.| dbs
