Cebu City, Philippines—The National Youth Day 2019 is one of the most anticipated and major events in Cebu this year.

The Archdiocese of Cebu will be hosting the event for the first time from April 23 to 28, 2019.

For six days, some 12,000 young pilgrims will gather in Cebu to engage in different activities.

On Monday, April 22, some of the pilgrims showed their excitement through social media posts of their journey to Cebu using the hashtag #NYD2019Cebu.

The Albay Cathedral Youth Commission posted a picture with their delegates with the caption, “NATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2019, DIOCESE OF LEGAZPI DELEGATES.”

Archie Mae Abordo also shared a post with the caption “Archdiocese of Palo official delegates for National Youth Day 2019”.

The NYD 2019- Cebu Facebook account posted, too, a picture of pilgrims from Bacolod City at the Cebu City North Bus Terminal.

On Tuesday, the young pilgrims have started to arrive in Cebu.

According to an email sent by Bryner Diaz, officer-in-charge of the Cebu City’s Cultural and Historical Affairs Office (CHAO),  the pilgrims will be arriving in different entry points in Cebu.

“Busses dispatched by the main organizers will fetch the pilgrims in the designated arrival points to the reception areas and their host parishes” said Diaz.

The pilgrims will then be introduced to their host families who would accommodate them until the end of the event on April 28, 2019. /bmjo
