Cop assigned at CPPO’s drug enforcement unit killed in Toledo City ambush

CEBU CITY, Philippines -A policeman assigned at the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) was killed in an ambush in Toledo City past 10 a.m. today, April 30.

Police Master Sergeant  Junard Cinco, 38, came from his home in Barangay Lutopan and was ambushed while at the vicinity of Barangay Media Once. He was headed for Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City.

Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, chief of the Toledo City Police Station, said that two men who were on board a motorcycle tailed Cinco who was onboard his service motorcycle with his wife.

Rafter said that the motorcycle backrider then fired shots at the police which resulted to his immediate death.

Police Captain Alejandro Batobalonos, PDEU chief, said they are yet to look into the motive of Cinco’s death. /dcb
