Despite isolated rainshowers, warm weather still expected in Cebu on Labor Day
CEBU CITY, Philippines—The early morning downpour experienced in Mandaue City and some portions of Cebu City on Labor Day, May 1, 2019, are only isolated rainshowers, said the state weather bureau.
Netherlen Seletrero, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in Mactan, said the localized and isolated rains will only last for 30 minutes to one hour.
“Sa among radar monitoring karon, gamay ra kaayo nga portions ang affected — only Mandaue City and some parts of Cebu City,” Seletrero said in a phone interview on Wednesday morning.
Seletrero added that the weather throughout the observance of Labor Day would still be generally warm with the peak temperature expected to be ranging between 26 to 33 degrees Celsius.
She added that the heat index, especially during the peak hours at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., may still reach up to 41 degrees Celsius.
In the late afternoon or at nighttime, isolated thunderstorms may also be experienced in the province, Seletrero said./
