Cebu City, Philippines—The Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) secondary and elementary football teams advanced to the quarterfinal round of the football competition of the ongoing Palarong Pambansa in Davao City.

CVRAA secondary team is manned by the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) while the elementary is represented by Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC).

Both teams advanced to the knockout stage in contrasting fashion.

While USJ-R ended the elimination round with one win, one draw and one loss, DBTC did not concede any of its three group stage matches.

USJ-R opened their first Palarong Pambansa stint with a scoreless draw against Davao Region, then bowed to Calabarzon 0-2 but came back to rout Central Luzon 4-0.

DBTC, on the other hand, won over Bicol Region 3-1, blanked Zamboanga Peninsula Region 2-0 next, then ended the elimination round with a 4-0 thrashing of the Ilocos Region.

In the quarterfinals Wednesday, May 1, 2019, USJ-R will be facing Northern Mindanao while DBTC will go up against the National Capital Region. /bmjo
