CEBU CITY, Philippines – Three members of the Girls Under-15 football team of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) made it to the final roster for the Philippine Girls National Under 15.

They are Raya Tolentino, Mia Evangelista and Maegan Alforque.

The three will join other girls who also made it through the selection process in representing the Philippines in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-15 Women’s Championship, which will be held in Thailand from May 10 to 22, 2019.

According to SHS-AdC athletic director Rico Navarro, the girls were first selected for the training pool during the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Festival of Football (FOF) held in San Carlos City last March.

They then joined the training camp, wherein they had to undergo several tryouts before finally making the cut.

The AFF U-15 Women’s Championship is held every two years since its first edition back in 2009, which was won by Australia.

The Philippines finished in second place in the 2016 edition held in Laos after losing the championships against Thailand.

It was the Philippines’ highest finish in the tournament so far. /bmjo
