Cebu City, Philippines—Does age matter in a relationship?
“Love You Two” stars Jennylyn Mercado and Gabby Concepcion gave their thoughts during a press conference held last Saturday, May 4, 2019, in Lapu-Lapu City.
“Ang love, wala namang pinipiling edad yan. Ang importante aalagan ka, mamahalin ka at totoo siya sayo,” Mercado told members of the Cebu Entertainment Group.
(In love, age really doesn’t matter. What’s important is that you are being taken cared of and loved and that he’s true to you.)
In the series, Mercado plays Raffy, a woman who thrives in her career.
She will be romantically linked to Jake, Concepcion’s character, who is in his 40s and a hotel owner.
In real life, Mercado, 31, is in a relationship with 37-year-old Kapuso actor Denis Trillo, who is six years older than her.
For her to completely portray Raffy, she had to read the script very well.
“Andoon kasi makikita kung paano siya gumagalaw at yung linya. Doon mo makikita yung character ni Raffy kung babasahin mo isa-isa,” she said.
(You can really see how the character moves and plays when you read it by line.)
Mercado describes Raffy as strict and loud but a woman who loves her family and even her ex-boyfriend Theo (Clint Bondad).
For Concepcion, it is impossible for him to love a woman who is younger than him.
“We have our limitation and boundaries,” the 54-year-old actor said.
In the story, Jake will be linked to Raffy and Sam (Shaira Diaz), Raffy’s younger sister, who wants to experience everything.
“Wala akong karanasan na ganoon. Hirap na hirap ako sa role. I read the script and read it three times. I asked my friends how they do it. Yung may situation, na sister niligawan din,” Concepcion said.
(I have no experience in that kind of situation. I have a hard time portraying the role. I read the script three times and I asked some friends who experienced the same situation.)
“Love You Two” is the first pairing of Mercado and Concepcion under Kapuso Network.
It also stars Clint Bondad, who plays the character of Theo, the ex-boyfriend of Raffy who wants to get an opportunity outside the country.
This is the second time that Bondad and Mercado worked together in a Kapuso Network.
Both first worked in “Dear Uge”, a comedy anthology in 2018.
“I just enjoy (working with them) and I see her (Mercado) as a big sister,” Bondad said.
What Bondad likes into this character is very caring, loving, loyal, and perfectionist.
“Love You Two” premiered on April 22 under the helm of Irene Villamor. It is showed at primetime from Monday to Friday.
Other stars in the series are Solenn Heussaff, Shaira Diaz, Sheena Halili, Jerald Napoles, Kiray Celis, Nar Cabico, Yasser Marta, and Michelle Dee. /bmjo
