The Third “Run UP High” of the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Campus’ High School Alumni Association will hit Cebu’s major streets on Nov. 24 starting at The Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.
The only local race that features a four-man “Barkada” category, will introduce a 21-kilometer half marathon distance for hard core running buffs. Organizers hope that with the addition of the 21k event, the race will be more challenging and exciting.
Proceeds of the fund-raising run, which is now in its fifth year, will be used to finance UP Cebu High School Alumni Association’s scholarship program and for the professional development of its deserving faculty members.
“One thing that made our programs stronger is because of this running event. With the help of this race, we were able to produce more than a dozen scholars and address the academic needs of the high school department,” said UP Cebu High School Alumni Association president Emi Rose Parcon during yesterday’s official race launching at the City Sports Club. She was joined by secretary Jareliese Albeza and Board of Director Julie Haas.
Other distances to be featured in the race are the 3k barkada category, individual 3k race, 6k and 12k.
The first 200 finishers will receive a medal as no cash prizes will be offered to the winners.
Registration is still ongoing at Ayala Cebu’s the RUNNR and at the Active Zone. There will also be an onsite registration on race day.
