Mandaue City to start disposing garbage in Binaliw landfill
Mandaue City, Cebu — Mandaue City will start disposing its garbage in the sanitary landfill facility in Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City today, May 8, 2019.
Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, who co-chairs the city’s Solid Waste Management Board, told the press in an interview that they successfully negotiated the start of disposal with representatives from ARN Builders which operates the Binaliw Landfill on Tuesday, May 7.
Mandaue City has ceased disposing its garbage at the landfill in Consolacion since Monday, May 6, after the mount of garbage became unstable and started to slide.
The city will be paying ARN Builders P700 per ton of garbage that they will dispose, which is the same rate that the city used to pay to dispose at the landfill in Consolacion.
Fortuna said the council will hold an emergency session on Thursday, May 9, for the approval in availing the services of the landfill. /bmjo
