Scenes from Partido Barug’s, Alayon’s miting de avance and a BO-PK rally
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Two political parties in two cities held their miting de avance on Wednesday, May 8.
In Cebu City, the Partido Barug-PDP Laban, made up of the opposition candidates, gathered together with their supporters at a lot behind the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish along C. Padilla Street in Cebu City.

The party’s standard bearers, Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, who is running for mayor, and former Mayor Michael Rama, who is Labella’s runningmate, led the political event.
Actors Anabelle Rama and her husband, Eddie Gutierrez, who are relatives of the party’s candidate for vice mayor, Michael Rama, attended the event to show their support to former Mayor Michael Rama and the Partido Barug.
Singer Kurt Fick entertained the Partido Barug supporters during an intermission number of the event.
As Partido Barug held their miting de avance, a block away, their rival political party, the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) also held a rally in front of the Taboan Public Market.
They were planning to show their support to reelectionist Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, who was their expected guest that night.
The Partido Barug’s miting de avance which started at past 8 p.m. was done at past 11 p.m.
Meanwhile, in Talisay City, the Alayon Party headed by Talisay Mayor Eduardo Gullas Sr., who is running for a Congress seat, and Representative Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, who is running for mayor, led their miting de avance.
Alayon’s miting de avance, which was held at a vacant lot in Barangay Lawaan II in Talisay City was attended by Third District Representative Gwendolyn Garcia, who is running for Cebu governor, and her runningmate Daphne Salimbangon.
Reelectionist senators, Angara and Cynthia Villar, and Taguig Representative Pia Cayetano, who is also running for a Senate seat, also attended the event.
