A 20-YEAR-OLD man who was earlier reported missing was found lifeless off Mactan Channel yesterday morning.

Jason Maloloy-on of barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City was found by his relatives under the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

The victim together with Angelo Caballero went for a dip Tuesday morning. They jumped into the water using a Styropor board to keep them afloat.

Caballero reportedly convinced the victim to join him in crossing the channel from the Lapu-Lapu City side. As they were swimming, they were pummeled by strong waves left from a passing ferry’s wake.

While the victim tried to retrieve his slippers which had slipped from his grip, he lost his hold on the Styropor board and disappeared into the water. Caballero tried to save the victim to no avail.

He then sought help from the authorities. The victim’s body was found the next day.
