UC wins Cesafi boys volleyball; ends 15-year title drought

CEBU CITY, Philippines – The University of Cebu (UC) ended a 15-year title drought in the Cesafi boys volleyball after they defeated the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) in three straight sets, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20, in game 3 of their finals game held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at the Aznar Coliseum in Cebu City.

The last time that UC won the Cesafi boys volleyball title was in 2003, when assistant coach John Abas was still playing with the team.

UC setter King John Camacho was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

USJ-R won Game 1, 25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, on Saturday, October 26.

However, UC forged a rubbermatch on Sunday, October 27, after winning Game 2, 16-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-19, 17-15.

The girls volleyball title is still being contested between defending champion University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and USJ-R as of this writing. / dcb
