Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano talked about the media’s crucial role in exposing and stamping out corruption during the 17th Annual General Assembly of the Cebu Newscoop held at the Mercalo Fernan Cebu Press Center earlier today.

“In the Philippines it’s prohibited to steal small. If you steal to buy food or medicines for your family, you end up in jail. If you steal big, you can become mayor and if you steal bigger, you can become congressman or even president. It’s both sad and tragic at the same time,” Cayetano said.

“But if there’s no media, Janet Lim-Napoles would have been president ,” he added.
