CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu City Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation denied claims on a circulating letter asking for solicitations for a barangay basketball league.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the SK Federation said that SK officials are not allowed to solicit by any means as every barangay has its allocated budget for Sangguniang Kabataan.

This after a letter signed by a certain Carlito Jimenez circulated seeking for financial assistance from various individuals for an out of school youth (OSY) event in an unspecified barangay.

Based on the document released by the SK Federation, Jimenez collected P3,800 worth of solicitation from five individuals or organizations.

“There has never been an elected SK Official nor an appointed SK Secretary or SK Treasurer of Cebu City, whose name appears on the photos below.

In addition, the SK logo that has been used on the solicitation letter below IS NOT THE OFFICIAL SK LOGO of the Sangguniang Kabataan,” said the Cebu City SK Federation.

The SK Federation urged the public to report any similar solicitation from any SK council to the office of ex-officio Councilor Jessica Resch, who is also the president of the SK Federation, on the 2nd floor of the Legislative Building of the Cebu City Hall. /rcg
