Cebuana to hold charity Zumba events

Cebu Daily News May 05,2014 - 10:18 PM

YOU CAN TAKE the Cebuana out of Cebu but you can never take Cebu out of the Cebuana.
This is what certified Zumba fitness instructor Mary Ann Serion Nillas Goldstein believes in as she hopes to give both hope and help to the less-fortunate of the Visayas through her organization Fitness for a Cause.
Goldstein hopes to accomplish these this month through charity Zumba events in Cebu, Negros Oriental and Tacloban.
Goldstein, a native of Cebu who is now based in Colorado in the United States, will be coming home to stage several Zumba events, including a Zumba Masters Class here in Cebu.
The Fitness for a Cause charity event will start in Cebu on May 11 with the Zumba Fitness Masters Class, which is being done in cooperation with ZForce.
It will begin at 5 p.m. at the Pope John Seminary in Mabolo. Registration for this event will be P150 with the proceeds going directly to charity.
Meanwhile, the other events across the region will be on May 12 at the Vallehermoso Gym in Negros Oriental and on May 25 at the Robinson’s Mall parking lot in Tacloban City.
All interested participants will have to do is bring new toys or kids’ clothing in order to get in for free. All items shall be personally delivered to children in the poverty-stricken areas of Cebu, Negros and Tacloban.
For Goldstein, these goodwill events are nothing new. After all, this is the main thrust of their organization, which aims to help children and families through the healing power of dance and fitness. The organization also raised funds in Colorado to help the victims of supertyphoon Yolanda last year.
Interested participants and donors can contact Mrs. Goldstein at [email protected] or at 0923-505-1556. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
