Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong is giving cash incentives to policemen who can arrest users and pushers.

Chiong said he will give P5,000 for every drug user and P10,000 for every drug peddler arrested.

“This will serve as a strong warning to the public that we really mean business to get rid of drug peddlers, users and all undesirable elements involved in the illegal drug trade in our city,” he said.

In this morning’s regular flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall grounds, Chiong commended Supt. Brindo Nacario, Naga City police chief and seven police officers for their efforts to curb drug activities in their town. They were given P15,000 in cash.

Last month, three drug suspects were arrested in two separate operations conducted by PO2 Nilo Dacles, PO1 John Mark Bongo, PO2 Orlando Condes, PO2 Junarie Latorre, PO1 Bobby Jay Basabe, PO1 Raymund Romarez and Wilfredo Pada Jr.

“I am hoping that this will be sustained without let-up to achieve our vision of a “Drug Free City of Naga,” the mayor said.
