CEBU CITY, Philippines- Today, May 10, 2020, is the deadline for the distribution of the government’s emergency subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

The deadline for SAP distribution was first extended to May 7 before it was moved to May 10 by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) “to give more time to LGUs facing difficulty in the distribution of the cash aid, especially in densely-populated areas.”

In a press release on Saturday, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that 1,204 Local Government Units (LGUs) in the country have already completed the distribution of the first tranche of the emergency cash subsidy.

DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año said that this translates to 85.49 percent national payout rate.

CARAGA region already achieved a 100 percent payout rate followed by the Bicol Region with a 99.79 percent rate,  Third on DILG’s list is the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with a 93.92 percent payout rate.

Ilocos Region registered a 91.12 percent payout rate followed by the Central Luzon with 90.92 percent performance; MIMAROPA at 89.85 percent; Cagayan Valley at 89.12 percent; SOCCSKSARGEN at 87.92 percent; Western Visayas at 87.55 percent; Northern Mindanao at 86.56 percent; Zamboanga Peninsula at 84.59 percent; Eastern Visayas at 81.92 percent; CALABARZON at 79.61 percent; National Capital Region (NCR) at 75.39 percent; Central Visayas at 71.67 percent; and Davao Region at 57.87 percent.

In Cebu, the municipalities of Liloan and Carmen in northern Cebu were among the LGUs that complete their distribution of the cash aid ahead of the DILG deadline.

In a separate press release, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported that 58 LGUs from around the country have already submitted complete liquidation reports. The agency can now start the conduct of validation in these LGUs within 15 days from receipt of the documents to determine the eligibility of the beneficiaries and to check for cases of duplication in the receipt.

DSWD earlier said that the second wave of subsidies may be released on or before May 20 to LGUs that have submitted “complete” liquidation reports on the first phase of the release of the cash aid.

“The DSWD continues to work hand in hand with the DILG to ensure the smooth distribution of the emergency subsidy to the rightful beneficiaries at the same time adhering to existing health and safety protocols amid this ongoing public health emergency.”
