TALISAY City Mayor Johnny V. delos Reyes and the members of the Board of Trustees of the Talisay City College has agreed to allow the regional director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) to head the institution.

The mayor said he agreed to withdraw his order appointing Dr. Paulus Cañete as Talisay City College president if Richel Bacaltos steps down from his post.

Delos Reyes said personnel hired by Bacaltos will continue to receive their salaries and this will be charged to the supplemental budget.

Under this arrangement, Delos Reyes said CHEd Regional Director Freddie Bernal will temporarily assume the presidency of the TCC until a search committee appoints a new president.

Councilor Richard Francis Aznar, chairman of the Talisay City Council education committee, said the search committee will be composed of representatives from the CHEd, the Cebu Normal University and Cebu Technological University.

The councilor said the new Talisay City College president should be a resident of Talisay City, have a doctoral degree and an extensive experience in school administration and does not have pending cases.
