THE Madridejos Central School in Madridejos town, Bantayan Island will get at least  1,500 learning kits from the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office next week in time for the opening of classes for public schools.

Dr. Vivia  G. Ginete, chief Resource Mobilization Special Programs and Project Division of DepEd-7 said that this will just be the first batch of kits that will be distributed to schools affected by supertyphoon Yolanda.

“The learning kits are from the private partners that were channeled through the Central Office. We don’t have funds yet for that because the funds released are for school construction and rehabilitation,” Ginete said.

In the learning kits are writing pads, notebooks, pencil, ballpen, crayons and workbooks.

Ginete explained that Madridejos Central School was found to be the most affected in northern Cebu as assessed by two personnel from DepEd head office who joined the Brigada Eskwela.

“Some of their classrooms can’t be used during the first day of classes. Other learning materials can’t be used anymore after the devastation of typhoon Yolanda,” she said.
