Three men were arrested after police allegedly caught them sniffing shabu in a shanty in barangay Lower Tunghaan, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.
The three suspects, Cromoel Delan Sameon, 31; Armando Masong Calinawan, 45 and Larry Chavez Ramos, 34, each had guns when police arrested them past 8 p.m. Saturday, said Supt. Richard Galingan.
Galingan said that even before the arrest, police had been monitoring Calinawan.
“His wife has been complaining that the man had been beating her up. He was probably more irritable as a result of using illegal drugs or the lack of money to support his vices. There are a lot of factors,” said Galingan in Cebuano.
Galingan said the wife also tipped them off that Calinawan possessed a firearm.
Police rushed to the shanty after receiving a tip that three men were using drugs there.
Recovered from the shanty were a pack of suspected shabu and drug-sniffing paraphernalia such as improvised tooters.
Police said a .45 cal. pistol was seized from the possession of Sameon while Calinawan yielded a .22 cal. revolver. Recovered from Ramos was a .38 cal. revolver.
Police said the three will be charged with violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and R.A. 10951 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition./UP intern Gerriane Rizon
