‘Disturbed’ man shot by cop after running amuck

By: Chito O. Aragon June 04,2014 - 06:04 AM

A POLICEMAN shot and wounded a man who allegedly ran amuck in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

Insp. Delfin Bontuyan of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas said Josefino Complitado, 32, allegedly fired a gun prompting him to return fire.

He said a neighbor, Emmanuel Rabor, had called him and sought his help after Complitado, a hollow block maker, allegedly pelted several houses with stones past 1 a.m. yesterday.

The window of Rabor’s house was shattered after it was hit by stones allegedly thrown by the suspect.

Bontuyan said he went to where Complitado was standing and introduced himself as a policeman. He said he told him to calm down and to surrender.

Instead of complying, Complitado allegedly drew a gun and fired at the policeman.

Complitado, a native of Tabuelan town, was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

“It seemed like he was not in the right mind. He was saying he was not scared of anyone and that he had killed all his siblings,” said Bontuyan in Cebuano.

Complitado’s employer, Judel Orlanes, said the man appeared disturbed when he arrived home last Monday.

According to Orlanes, Complitado was depressed after he learned that his girlfriend’s parents was against his relationship with their daughter.
