PHILIPPINE Davis Cup members Johnny Arcilla, Treat Huey and Francis Casey Alcantara demolished separate rivals yesterday to advance into the next round of the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open tennis at the PCA courts in Plaza Dilao, Paco, Manila.

Seeking a record eighth championship in the $600,000 event, Arcilla defeated Joshua Miranda, 6-1, 6-4, to secure a seat in the next round.

Huey joined Arcilla in the higher round after blasting Enrique Ferrer, 6-2, 6-0. Alcantara also booked a seat in the next level with a powerful 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kristian Tesorio.

Arcilla’s fellow Philippine national team members Vicente Anasta and John Patrick Tierro were also successful in their opening bids as Anasta defeated Arn Procianos, 6-4, 6-1, and Tierro overpowered Al Michael Madrid, 6-2, 6-0.

Jacob Lagman, a familiar fixture during the past age group competitions in Cebu City, also tallied a win by shooting down Expedito Lim, 6-4, 6-3.
