The sleepy town of Sogod, northern Cebu will host the 4th Mayor Moonyeen Durano-Streegan Triathlon Cup on July 13, 2014 at the pristine waters of Alegre Beach Resort and Spa.
The triathlon event is one of the sporting events lined-up for the town’s fiesta celebration. It will feature shorter distances of 1-kilometer swim, 30k bike and 7.5-kilometer run.
This distance according to the organizers, is perfect for those who want to have a tune-up race before the grand Cobra Ironman 70.3 invades Cebu on August 3 in Mactan Island.
The 30km bike route will cover the newly-paved highway from Sogod to Catmon and vice versa. There will also be a Mini-Sprint with two categories: 13-15 years and 16 & above.
Event organizers are getting the services of Triathlon Association of the Philippines National Coach Rick Reyes to handle the event’s technical needs.
The champion triathlete in the full distance category will get P5,000 while the second and third placers will receive P3,000 and P2,000 respectively for both men and women. The winning triathletes in the 13-15 and 16-above divisions will be receiving Rudy Project products.
Registration is ongoing at Rudy Project Concept Stores at Ayala and SM, Speedo Ayala and SM, and The Brick Tri Shop. Registration fee is pegged at P800 and P1,000 for late enlistees.
