A police officer of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) was found positive of drug use  in a surprise test conducted at the MCPO headquarters yesterday morning.

MCPO director Senior Supt. Petronelli Baldebrin did not reveal the name of the officer assigned at the Opao Police Station.

The police officer was immediately reassigned to the MCPO headquarters while waiting for the results of a confirmatory test from the PNP crime laboratory.

He faces summary dismissal proceedings, if the confirmatory test result will still be positive.

“There’s no place in the service for men in uniform using or involved in any way with illegal drugs,” said Baldebrin.

There were 49 police personnel who were asked to give urine samples on the spot for the surprise drug test at  the police headquarters.
